Program and Career Description
This program is designed for students planning on transferring to a four-year institution in preparation for a teaching career in elementary education. Students desiring to teach in high school should choose the major they wish to teach. For example, if you plan to teach high school mathematics, you will want to pursue an associate degree with a mathematics major prior to transferring to a four-year institution.

Transfer Options
At Jackson State, we work hard to make sure that you graduate with your associate’s degree and arrive at a university prepared to start junior-level courses. If you plan on transferring to a TBR school (i.e. MTSU), then you will need to choose the Associate of Science in Teaching (AST) major. Students graduating with a degree in Education are able to seamlessly transfer to:

Be sure to check with the school you are planning on transferring to so that you will be sure that you have taken the courses that meet their degree requirements.
