Program and Career Description

Majoring in mathematics may lead to a variety of exciting careers. According to the College Majors Handbook, a mathematics degree can lead to a career in management, computer programming and analysis, sales, and finance. Students successfully completing the Associate of Science in Mathematics at Jackson State will have strong analytical skills that will provide the necessary background to excel in a changing technological world. Students have the opportunity to work closely with experienced faculty and have access to a math laboratory and tutoring to help them sharpen their skills. Transfer Options

At Jackson State, we work hard to make sure that you graduate with your associate’s degree and arrive at a university prepared to start junior-level courses. That’s why we have special articulation agreements with Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) schools that allow students completing the Associate of Science Mathematics degree to transfer as juniors. TBR universities with mathematics degrees include:

Other schools in West Tennessee with mathematics degrees include the University of Tennessee at Martin, Lambuth University, , Freed Hardeman University, and Union University. Students may require additional courses at these universities prior to becoming a junior.
