Program and Career Description
The Public Administration program at Jackson State is designed to prepare students for transfer to a four-year institution with the plan of pursuing a career in government service, non-profit service, or public healthcare management. The program is designed to promote professional skills and an understanding of the socio-economic and political factors that impact organizations. Careers in the field of public administration typically require a bachelor's degree or higher. Examples of public administration careers are found on the chart below.

Transfer Options
At Jackson State, we work hard to make sure that you graduate with your associate' degree and arrive at a university prepared to start junior-level courses. That' why we have special articulation agreements with Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) schools that allow students completing the Associate of Arts/Science Public Administration degree to transfer as juniors. TBR universities with public administration degrees include:
The University of Tennessee at Martin also has a public administration degree. Students may require additional courses at UTM prior to becoming a junior.
