Radiography Application requirements and Minimum Criteria

Application requirements and Minimum Criteria

1) Any student interested in applying to the Radiography program must first submit an application to Jackson State Community College through the college Admissions Office (www.jscc.edu/admissions) and meet all institution requirements. Some of these requirements may include submission of official high school and college/university transcripts, submission of official GED scores, submission of official ACT scores, along with immunization records such as MMR , Hepatitis B vaccination, etc.

2) There is a separate application to the Radiography program. PLEASE DO NOT send Radiography program applications to the JSCC Admissions Office or vice versa! To avoid confusion and delays/missed deadlines, make sure to complete both applications and send them each to their appropriate locations. Radiography program application deadline is June 1st each year and requires materials to be submitted to the Health Sciences Department located on the main campus of JSCC. Please mail program applications to: Jackson State Community College, ATTN: Health Sciences Department c/o Radiography Program Application, 2046 North Parkway, Jackson, TN 30301-3797.

***Program application materials may be delivered in person or postmarked by the June 1st deadline, however no faxed , emailed, or late materials will be accepted.***

To be considered for Radiography program admission, ALL applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Obtain full admission status to JSCC to begin the fall semester after program application deadline.

  • Satisfy any remedial/developmental (Learning Support) coursework required due to ACT scores or COMPASS test scores, before the program application deadline.

  • Submit a complete Radiography program application to the Health Sciences department by the June 1st deadline.

3) There are two ways students may meet the minimum program criteria for Radiography admissions:

First-time college students (with no college credit or less than 11 credit hours)

1. Qualify for college level courses with minimum ACT scores on the English, reading, and mathematics subsections of 19 or equivalent.

OR

Students with college experience

2. Have completed at least 11 semester hours of college credit (excluding remedial/developmental (Learning Support), with a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 out of 4.0.

Note: The overall GPA is calculated by using EVERY college class taken at ALL accredited institutions of higher education attended. Ideally, this background should include college level mathematics and/or science courses, such as human anatomy and physiology which require laboratory sessions.
