Advising FAQs

How do I find out who my advisor is?

Each semester fall and spring an advisor is assigned to students based on their majors. You can review who your advisor is on the Web for student's page beginning in October for the fall and March for the spring. A list of students and their advisors will be posted on various bulletin boards across campus; Student Union, Classroom (2) locations, Science, and McWherter Center Buildings.

Can I change my advisor?

Yes, you can request a certain advisor, if it is within your major. Several faculty advise general education and liberal arts majors. However, nursing, allied health, and the professional technical studies faculty advice pre- nursing, or pre-allied health students and students in the program. Once you have be accepted into the nursing program, or one of the allied health programs you will register as a cohort group under the direction of the program directors. Contact Nancy Hickey in the Advising Services office, Student Union Building 16-B, to request an advisor change.

Can I change my major and if so when?

Yes you can change your major during the registration dates posted in the catalog. You can obtain this form from your advisor or the Office of Advising Services in the Student Union Building room 16-B. After you and your advisor have signed and completed the change of major form you need to return the form to the Registrar's Office or the Advising Services Office in the Student Union Building.
