Dual Studies Requirements for High School Counselors
Dedicated High School counselors know the needs and capabilities of their students. Dual classes happen due in part to their dedication to education and their continual cooperation with the Dual Studies staff. We cannot thank our counselors enough for all of their hard work and support of our Dual Studies Program. We rely heavily on counselors to help us each semester by:
- Discussing Dual Enrollment/Credit requirements, desired courses, and your school's deadlines with juniors and seniors
- Collecting Dual Enrollment application packets
- Informing students of any missing requirements
- Submitting application packets to the Dual Studies Office(complete with Hepatitis B forms, transcripts, GPA's and ACT/PLAN scores)
- Submitting letters of recommendation as needed
- Verifying final student rosters with the DS staff
- Ensuring all accepted students have applied for the TSAC grant online before each semester deadline
Counselors can help students decide if they want to take their classes...
- On the HS campus (meet during the regular school day)
- Online (for students that can successfully communicate with their professor and complete ALL coursework online) or
- At Jackson State or one of the centers in Humboldt, Lexington or Savannah (Classes are filled on a first come basis)
