Who is eligible for Dual Credit and Dual Enrollment?
To be eligible for Dual Credit, the student must earn an overall 2.0 GPA average or higher and at least be a 2nd Semester high school Freshman.
Easy Steps for Students
- Send your Dual Credit Application with required signatures and your transcript to the Dual Studies Office.
- If you are eligible, the Dual Studies Office will contact your technical instructor.
- Pass your exam(s) with the designated score.
- Enroll at JSCC.
To be eligible for Dual Enrollment, the student must have a 3.00 overall GPA and a 19 on the ACT or PLAN score in the particular subject. For example, a student must have a 19 in Reading on the ACT or PLAN in order to take American History I for dual enrollment.
Students must fill out a Dual Enrollment Application and a Hep B History Form. A copy of their transcirpt with GPA and test scores must be sent along with application. Tuition is due upon enrollment of dual courses. Please refer to the Academic Calendar on the homepage for payment deadlines.
To apply for the TN Dual Enrollment Grant students must apply online at www.tn.gov/collegepays each semester.
Students are responsible for paying for textbooks and any other course materials that are required.
Students may obtain new or used textbooks from the JSCC Bookstore or may purchase them online at www.jsccbooks.com.
Students that are taking dual enrollment courses at Jackson State or one of the JSCC centers must obtain a student ID card and a parking pass.
Students must adhere to all policies and procedures of JSCC at all times.
