Janice Morris
I, Janice Morris, have been engrossed in continuing my education since beginning at Jackson State Community College in summer of 1996. I attended this college as a non-traditional student who had been out of school for more than eight years. Although I knew it would be somewhat difficult, I had it in my mind to move forward with my education. At that time I was married with two children, ages seven and two. I’ve had many trials and tribulations, but I made it through. Through it all, I had the caring and thoughtful staff at JSCC to assist me. I eventually earned my Associates of Science in Education from this outstanding institution. It was really a great place to begin.
After leaving JSCC, I went to a university in Weakley County. It was awful, the drive was ridiculous. I attended this place for two semesters and came back “home.” I decided it was best for me to attend the University of Memphis at the Jackson Center. There was always a friendly atmosphere at Jackson State Community College. I am now continuing my BSEdu at the U of M with the friendly staff surrounding me at JSCC. This is where it began for me.
