Applicants to Allied Health Programs must submit an application for admission to both Jackson State and the allied health program of interest. Application deadlines and maximum program enrollments are as follows:
|EMT - Paramedic||June 1||35 students in the first year of the program|
|Medical Laboratory Technician||May 15||15 students in the first year of the program|
|Physical Therapist Assistant||May 15||20 students in the first year of the program|
|June 1||31 students in the first year of the program|
If the number of qualified applicants falls below the maximum enrollment, the admission date may be extended for new applicants. Applications for admission to allied health programs are considered for one application period only; applicants must submit a new application to be considered for admission to the next entering class. Personal interviews are scheduled with the admissions committee of the individual program. Students are admitted on the basis of their educational qualifications, including evidence of acceptable mathematics and science background, test scores, references, professional character, work experience, and personal grooming habits appropriate for working in a health care environment.
Preference may be given to applicants who exceed the minimum requirements, have medically related experience, or present above-average academic records. Since Jackson State is a state-supported institution and enrollment in allied health programs is limited, state residents will be given preference in the student admission process. Students admitted to the programs will be required to provide evidence that they are in good health and free from communicable diseases.
