Assessment
Mission Statement
The Jackson State Community College Assessment Center provides a convenient testing environment for students, community and faculty. It offers GED, COMPASS, ACT ASSET, ACT Residual (for both admission to JSCC and the Nursing Program), Regents Online Degree Program (RODP) proctoring, special needs, and other assessments conducive to individuals' overall success academically, personally and professionally.
Note: All exams require an acceptable valid photo I.D.
(Driver's license, State photo, or JSCC I.D.)
SPECIAL NEEDS TESTING or Special Accommodation testing is available for JSCC students with disabilities who have registered with our Disability Resource Center, and provided documentation of qualified disability. The Disability Resource Center is located in the Nelms Classroom Bldg., Room B15. The student or instructor must contact the Assessment Center to schedule an appointment.
ACT ASSET is a timed paper and pencil substitution for COMPASS. The ASSET is an assessment-advising program designed to identify the basic skill levels of students as they enter two-year institutions. The exam must be scheduled through the Assessment Center by calling the Office.
RODP is available through TBR colleges, universities, and technology centers who joined to offer courses completed entirely online and transferable among all the participating institutions. Students are able to choose the college or university (home school) for their admission, registration, and the award of their degree. As part of this program, the TBR RODP institutions have agreed to proctor the students' exams free of charge. Students must follow the proctor guidelines listed on the RODP website.
