Dual Enrollment

The Dual Enrollment plan allows students to earn college credits that count toward both a college degree and their high school diploma.

Students must apply and be accepted to the Dual Enrollment Program.

Tuition is involved after acceptance into the program, but juniors and seniors with a 3.0 overall GPA can apply for $600 per semester through the TN Dual Enrollment Grant.*

Freshmen and Sophomores may also participate if they meet the same eligibility requirements, but they are not eligible for the TN Dual Enrollment Grant and must pay full tuition.

Dual Enrollment courses are usually taught by college faculty at the high school.  Qualified high school teachers are also hired as adjunct faculty or facilitators for online courses.

High School contracts must exist and be current with JSCC.

Credit is given at the high school AND at JSCC upon successful completion of the course.

You should contact your counselor or the college or university you plan to attend to  make sure your desired Dual Enrollment course is transferable and will be accepted at  after graduating high school.

*Students that choose to use $600 per semester vs. $300, should be aware that the extra money  will actually be coming out of their TN Lottery Scholarship fund.  That means that up to $1,200  of the scholarship money that students normally use after they graduate HS can already be gone.
