Federal Pell Grant

Federal Pell Grant is money given to eligible students based upon the government's financial need formula. Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and approximately five weeks later, you will receive a set of papers entitled Student Aid Report (SAR). For priority consideration of limited funds for which you may be eligible, it is recommended that you submit the FAFSA by February 15th. If you are a first-time freshman and you want your application to be processed in time for fall registration, you must submit all documents necessary to complete your financial aid file to JSCC by July 15th. The fall processing deadline for returning and transfer students is June 15th.

Applicants for spring semester aid must meet a November 1st deadline. If you want to receive a grant for summer school, you should submit your SAR by April 15th. Award amounts range from $400 to $4000, depending on Congressional authorization.
