Scholarships

Access and Diversity Scholarship

 

These scholarships were created to provide financial support for students who are members of targeted underrepresented groups at Jackson State Community College. Current targeted groups are non-native speakers of English, single parents, and persons who are a nontraditional gender in their major, such as men in nursing or women in engineering. The college applies to the Tennessee Board of Regents each year for continued funding, which then is administered by the college's Diversity Committee. Priority deadline for fall is Feb. 15.

F. E. Wright Merit Scholarships

This scholarship is awarded to high school seniors chosen for scholastic excellence, desire for higher education, and evidence of leadership ability. The scholarship covers full-time tuition and is renewable for a total of four semesters if eligibility requirements are met. The deadline for applying for this scholarship is March 15th. Students must have a minimum composite ACT score of 20 to apply. For additional guidelines, please contact the Financial Aid Office.

Academic Service Scholarships

This scholarhip is a state-funded program that requires 75 hours of service to the college each semester. Preference is given to students who apply by March 15th and who meet one of the following criteria: (1) Incoming freshmen who are in the top 25% of their graduating class, have a "B" average and, have an ACT composite score of 19 or above. (2) JSCC sophomores who have a 3.0 grade point average or better.

High school senior applicants who have at least a "B" average and a minimum of a 25 ACT score will be automatic recipients. This is contingent upon availability of state funding, the applicant meeting the scholarship deadline, and having all admissions and scholarship credentials submitted by that same date.

Athletic Scholarships

These scholarships are offered by the Jackson State Athletic Department for men's and women's basketball, as well as women's softball and men's baseball. Contact the athletic department at (731) 425-2649 for additional information. Athletes are also encouraged to apply for federal student aid.

JSCC Foundation Scholarships

These scholarships are provided by the Jackson State Community College Foundation and are intended to increase access to Jackson State. They are made possible by contributions from businesses, civic organizations, clubs and individuals in the college service area. The deadline for applying for these scholarships is March 15th.

Information Technology Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by Jackson State's Office of Information Technology in order to increase the number of students enrolling in selected computer courses at Jackson State. OIT will award one $250.00 scholarship per semester, excluding summer semesters, to a degree seeking-CIS major taking computer courses (excluding Computer Literacy and any Regents Online Degree). All degree seeking-CIS majors are eligible for the CSS award. For more information, visit the scholarship's site.
