Inclement Weather Schedule

Notice for inclement weather will be posted on our homepage. This information will also be given to the local media outlets at the earliest possible time. A message will also be on our phone system and can be accessed at any time by calling 424-3520 or 1-800 355-JSCC. Students who are signed up for the college's text messaging alert system on the "high importance" level will receive a text message to the provided cell phone number.

In the event of inclement weather, one of the following decisions will be made by the administration regarding the campus:

Day Classes

  1. Open campus on regular schedule.
  2. Open campus on delayed schedule – classes meeting between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. will start precisely 1 hour late.

    1. Classes starting before 8:00 a.m. will be cancelled.
    2. Classes that start at 8:00 a.m. will meet at 9:00 a.m., classes that start at 9:25 a.m. will meet at 10:25 a.m., etc. and classes that start at 4:00 p.m. will meet at 5:00 p.m.
    3. Classes starting after 4:00 p.m. will meet at regular time.
    4. Employees should report to work as soon as possible, but no later than 9:00 a.m.
  3. Close campus – classes cancelled; faculty and staff do not report to work.

Night Classes

Classes will meet on regular schedule or be cancelled.

Saturday Classes

Classes will meet on regular schedule or be cancelled.

If a student is unable to get access to one of these media outlets, he/she may also call 1-800-355-5722 or 731-424-3520 beginning at 6 a.m. to hear an updated message, check the Jackson State homepage at www.jscc.edu or sign up for the college's text messaging alert system through jWeb.
