JSCC Hosts “Green Week” March 16 - 20
Jackson, Tenn. -- Jackson State Community College’s Division of Arts and Sciences has formed a “Green Team” to help encourage the campus to participate in environmental improvement efforts. The Green Team has declared March 16 – 20 as “Green Week” at Jackson State and has planned several activities.
On Wednesday, March 18 at 12:30 pm in the Science Auditorium in the Math and Science Building, Jackson State will show the documentary “Kilowatt Ours.” Faculty members Terri Messer and Diana Fordham will lead a discussion following the film. The event is free and open to faculty, staff, students and the community.
On Friday, March 20 at 1 p.m. in the Classroom Building Room 110A, there will be a discussion of the book “Silent Spring” by Rachel Carson. The discussion will be facilitated by JSCC faculty members James Mayo, Danya McMurtrey and John Koons. The event is free and open to the public.
In addition to these activities, JSCC’s Green Team is hosting discussions for faculty on “The Paperless Classroom” and “Making Environmental Literacy a Part of Your Curriculum.”
