Jackson State Community College will hold a Career Education Expo on May 19 from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the McWherter Center on its Jackson campus. The expo is designed so that those who have lost jobs or are in an industry susceptible to layoffs can get more information on the career education programs available at the college.

Jackson State representatives will be available to answer questions about admissions, financial aid, and registration. Information will be available on the college career education programs in healthcare, business, industry and computers.

A formal presentation on career preparation programs will be presented in Ayers Auditorium at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Other seminars will be offered throughout the day on topics including where to begin, paying for college, coping in these economic times, writing a resume, searching for jobs on the Internet, and preparing for an interview. Participants also will be able to take a career interest evaluation to find out what jobs they would be most interested in performing.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues throughout the day. This is not a job fair, but participants will be able to explore educational programs that could lead to opportunities in the job market.
