Miss Jackson State Pageant sponsored by SGA Scheduled for November 12

The Student Government Association at Jackson State Community College has decided to re-instate a college tradition – the Miss Jackson State pageant. The SGA Sponsored Miss Jackson State Pageant 2009 will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. in the college’s gym.
Seven contestants will vie for the title of Miss Jackson State through competitions in casual wear, evening wear and interview. After the judges’ tallies, a new Miss Jackson State will be crowned. She will receive scholarship money in exchange for her service to the college.
The duties of the SGA sponsored Miss Jackson State will be to participate in campus events, welcome visitors to campus and to represent the college within the community.
The pageant was a long-standing tradition at Jackson State until it was discontinued in 1993. Although this year’s pageant is not a preliminary to Miss Tennessee as it has been in the past, the SGA students are working toward that goal for future pageants.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for students and $7 for adults and will be available at the door.
