Jackson State Offers Access and Diversity Scholarships

Jackson, Tenn. – Jackson State Community College is pleased to offer new diversity scholarships to its students. The scholarships are made possible by the Access and Diversity Initiatives Grants program through the Tennessee Board of Regents.

The Access and Diversity scholarships are available to three groups that are defined by the grant to be minorities on the JSCC campus. Single parents, non-traditional majors (e.g. men in nursing, women in engineering), and non-native speakers of English currently are the groups eligible for these scholarships.

Students who want to apply for the scholarships are required to complete the JSCC application for admission, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and the Access and Diversity Scholarship application. Students also will need a letter of recommendation from a person who can attest to the student’s potential. All materials should be mailed to: Jackson State Community College, Diversity Committee, c/o Linda Nickell, 2046 North Parkway, Jackson, TN 38301.

The priority application deadline for fall/spring awards is February 15, but applications will be accepted through August 1. Deadline for summer applications is May 1. Full time students may qualify for $200-$2000, and part-time students may qualify for $200-$1400 per semester, based on unmet need.

The Diversity Committee is made up of faculty, staff and financial aid advisors who review all applications, determine recipients and awards, and send out notification letters.
