posted on 02/18/08JSCC’s Innovation to Perform at “Festival of Choirs”
Jackson, Tenn. – Jackson State Community College’s Innovation Ensemble will perform at “Festival of Choirs” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the Dixie Carter Performing Arts and Academic Enrichment Center, Home of the Hal Holbrook Theatre in Huntingdon. 
This event will feature choirs from West Tennessee colleges and universities. Each choir will perform ten minutes of selected works and a school alma mater. All choirs will unite as a mass choir to perform a grand finale. The finale will be a selection from Randall Thompson’s Frostiana, based on the poetry of Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken.
Innovation will be performing “Shut de do” (arranged by Mark Hayes), “Hallelujah, Amen” from the oratorio Judas Maccabaeus by G.F. Handel, and an acappella setting of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Freddie Mercury of the rock group, Queen.
“Festival of Choirs,” produced by the West Tennessee Higher Education Consortium, is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. For tickets, visit or call the Dixie Box Office during the regular hours of Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. Phone reservations will be accepted at 731-986-2100, but tickets will be held at will call. No tickets will be mailed. Tickets also may be available through the individual schools.
Schools participating in “Festival of Choirs” include: Bethel College, University of Tennessee at Martin, Lane College, Lambuth University, Jackson State Community College, Freed-Hardeman University, Dyersburg State Community College, and University of Memphis.
