The Communication and Fine Arts Department and Theatre Club of Jackson State Community College present "Rhinoceros" by Eugene Ionesco at 7 p.m. nightly March 26 - 29 in the JSCC theatre in the gym.
The play belongs to the school of drama known as the Theatre of the Absurd. Over the course of three acts, the inhabitants of a small, provincial French town turn into rhinoceroses; ultimately the only human who does not succumb to this mass metamorphosis is the central character, Bérenger, a flustered everyman figure who is often criticized throughout the play for his drinking and tardiness.
This is the fourth production for Jackson State's theatre director, Kevin Anderton. Last semester, the students performed Arthur Miller's "All My Sons."
Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for general admission and will be sold at the door. For more information, contact Anderton at 424-3520 x408 or e-mail kanderton@jscc.edu.
