Feb 14th, 2012

Jackson State Community College will host the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association's (TCCAA) Region VII Basketball Tournament in conjunction with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) March 6-10, 2012.

Mens and women teams representing 10 community colleges throughout Tennessee including: Chattanooga State, Cleveland State, Columbia State, Dyersburg State, Jackson State, Motlow State, Roane State, Southwest State, Volunteer State and Walters State will travel to Jackson to battle it out in hopes of becoming the 2012 tournament champs.

This gives Jackson State an opportunity to provide a great experience for the student/athletes in the league and I think its great for the community. Additionally, it allows us to showcase the College and welcome our peers from across the state. Probably the most exciting thing for me is the renovations that are taking place in the gym and how it will benefit our programs, said Jackson States Athletic Director, Steve Cornelison.

Jackson State s current season record for men is 13-4 (9-4 TCCAA) and for women is 6-12 (3-10 TCCAA).

When asked about the level of play that the tournament will bring Cornelison said, We have a very athletic league; the level of play is high. There are a lot of players in our conference that move on to the next level.
