Sep 19th, 2013

Rawlings Sporting Goods announced that former Jackson State Community College infielder Kane Barrow earned a spot on 2013 NJCAA Division I Rawlings Gold Glove Award Team. This is a great honor for Kane as well as the coaching staff of Jackson State. Recipients of this award are chosen by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and honor the best defenders at each position and represent the finest in the field. The announcement from Rawlings also acknowledged the contributions of the coaching staff at JSCC, stating, 'we recognize that Kanes development thrived under the leadership and fundamentals brought in by you and your staff. For that, we say thank you!'

Kane came to Jackson State from Paris, TN and played 3rd and 1st base for the Generals. In his last season with the Generals he hit .454, 166 AB with 8 HR, 65 RBI, 14 2B, 2 3B, and scored 40 runs in 46 games. 'Players with Kanes ability and drive don't come along every day,' said Head Coach Tyson Malik. 'It's exciting to see a young man that is so gifted athletically, work so hard and have a real drive to succeed. Kane has the ability to inspire those around him to work hard and that, to me, helped our team as much as the numbers he put up.'
