Quest Orientation

QUEST is a unique online orientation opportunity for African American males at JSCC who are first-time freshmen. During QUEST, students will engage in various workshops to help with the transition to college. Workshops include topics such as college success, accessing online class resources, study tips, and planning your degree path. These sessions will provide support for 8 weeks during the Fall 2020 semester so that students are better able to succeed in their journey at JSCC.

QUEST will be held via Zoom on the following Mondays: August 31, September 14, September 21, September 28, October 5, October 19, October 26, and November 2 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Attendees will receive a stipend of $300. We can only accept 25 students, so our preference is students who are able to attend each weekly session of QUEST.

It is expected that QUEST participants attend all live sessions on time. Please note that receiving the stipend is based on attendance. One excused absence is permitted; however, to receive full points for a missed session, students must meet with a QUEST leader to make up the missed session.

QUEST attendees will be required to have their video and sound enabled during the weekly Zoom sessions which will also require access to reliable internet.

The QUEST application deadline is Monday, August 26, 2020 at 11:59 pm. You must be enrolled at JSCC by the QUEST application deadline. You must also complete the online Great Expectations Orientation in addition to the QUEST orientation. The committee will contact the 25 chosen attendees by August 28. If you have questions, please contact Kara Reeves at (731)424-3520 ext. 50434 or kreeves9@jscc.edu.

Filling out this application does not guarantee your spot in QUEST. Accepted students will be contacted on 8/27/20.
