Art Club
JSCC Art Week
11/12/07-11/16/07
The Art Club, founded in 1996, is open to all JSCC students who are interested in art. This organization promotes the appreciation and practice of the visual arts both on our campus and in the community. The club encourages cultural enrichment by providing experiences with guest artists, workshops, and field trips. Each year the club has fund-raisers to assist in defraying the cost of art trips.
In April 1997, members traveled to Chicago to view Frank Lloyd Wright's home, the Art Institute of Chicago, and many other sites. In March 1998, members visited museums and galleries in Memphis. In the Spring of 1999 members took a trip to New York City and saw many museums and galleries. In March 2000 members visited museums and galleries in Memphis.
The purpose of this organization shall include:
- Encouragement of the visual arts among JSCC students, faculty, and the community at large
- Providing an outlet for work and exposure in the visual arts among students and the JSCC community
- Expanding learning activities among its members by club activities
- Providing a forum for dialogue art-interested students and faculty at JSCC
