Physical Therapy Assistant's Club

The Physical Therapist Assistant Club of Jackson State Community College is an organization established to cultivate, promote and sustain the art and science of physical therapy, to represent and safeguard the common interest of the members of the physical therapy profession, and to contribute toward the improvement of the health of the public.

Membership consists of an unlimited number of physical therapist assistant students who are enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program of Jackson State Community College.

During the 2007 fall semester the PTA Club held a bake sale and went "trick or treating" on Halloween and sold candles to raise money for St. Jude's Cancer Reasearch Hospital.  We raised $1500 for the Thanks and Giving Campaign.  We were able to go to the hospital to present the check and take a tour of the facility.  What an awesome group of people; their compassion and dedication are to be commended.

This Spring our second year students are on clinical rotations all over west Tennessee and the club has missed them terribly.  We have made an effort to increase recycling awareness on campus and are planning to give all monies raised to the Spanish Club who were the first and only club to respond to our offer.  We are currently working with Hub City Recycling and Nick Trent to make recycling easier by having large bends and even a dumpster devoted to recyclables.  We will keep everyone posted on this.
