Article VIII-Legislative Powers

Section 1: The Legislative Powers of the SGA JSCC shall be vested in the Student Government Commission.

  1. The SGA President shall preside over the commission and shall only vote in the event of a tie.
  2. Representatives with sophomore and/or freshman status, as computed by the Records Office, shall be elected as Student Government Association Commissioners.

Section 2: The duties of the Commission shall be as follows:

  1. Enact, by a majority vote, bylaws to this association;
  2. Propose, by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of members, amendments to this Constitution;
  3. Confirm or reject all appointments made by the president with a two-thirds (2/3) vote;
  4. Hear and consider any petition submitted to it which shall have the signatures of fifty (50) members of the current semester; and
  5. Consider any impeachment and removal policies for elected or appointed Student Government Officials.
