Minutes for final SGA meeting Fall 2007

Meeting was called to order by SGA Pres. Kevin Newhouse at 3:01pm on Monday Nov. 19th, 2007. Those present were as follows: Mr. Paul Finney, V.P of student services, Steve Cornelison, Athletics Director and baseball coach, Lisa Kincaid, Secretary to V.P of student services, SGA V.P Beth Grissom, Sophomore Commissioner Jennifer Brown, Freshmen Commissioners: Christina Brown, Candace Burton, and Nicole Mccoy, Computer Cub president, John Rhodes, Innovation Ensemble Rep. Mark Jones, and Philosophy/History Club president, Tim Yelverton. Our guest were: Mrs. Dana Nails, OIT Director, and Tracey Gunn, Classified Council Chair. Not in attendance were Sophomore Commissioners: Joey Velie, and Sara Futch, and the SGA Secretary: Billie Jo Callis.

Steven Cornelison gave a report on activities, including the manning of the concession stands for basketball games, how SGA hours were going tallied, help needed for the float, and the use of the printer.

Mrs. Dana stressed the importance of logging off when you finished using a computer anywhere on the JSCC campus, watch how much time is spent on Myspace and Facebook while in class and in the office, and other internet sources. She gave out a copy of the policy to all those attending.

Ms. Tracey Gunn asked that the SGA help with the campus food pantry/food drive for students who need it during the holiday season. If anyone has any ideas of how to help with this please see Ms. Tracey in the Admin. Building.

Old business was discussed: Christmas float still needs help in construction, Photo Shoot went well, Graduation deadline was Nov. 9th, 2007, Innovation's past and upcoming performances, and the completion of the theater clubs presentation of "All my sons" was a big success.

For New business, Steve announced the upcoming game in basketball and if anyone was interested to let him know about concessions. If students have an ID they get in free.

Announcements: Point Accumulation Sheets are due the last day of classes, Dec. 5th, 2007, for the fall semester. Final foods suggestions were given, with breakfast being the favorite amongst those attending, and Kevin was awarded the youngest volunteer coach in the league. This was the last meeting for SGA because this was the sixth meeting and there wasn't a time that everyone could meet, and so it was a unanimous decision.

Meeting was adjourned at 3:35 pm. Have a Merry Christmas
