Minutes for SGA Meeting November 5, 2007

The fifth SGA meeting was called to order by Pres. Kevin Newhouse on Nov. 5th, 2007, at 3:05pm. Those present were as follows: Mr. Paul Finney, V.P of student services, Steve Cornelison, Athletics Director and baseball coach, SGA V.P Beth Grissom, Sophomore Commissioners: Joey Velie, Sara Futch, and Jennifer Brown, Freshmen Commissioners: Christina Brown, Candace Burton, and Nicole McCoy, Computer Cub president, John Rhodes, Spanish Club V.P, Nora Mercado, Spanish Club Rep. Bill Matthews. We also had three guests: Mrs. Annette Deaton, Advisor and Counselor, PTK Pres. Raina Shultz, and Jeremy King. Those not present were SGA Secretary, Billie Jo Callis, and Lisa Kincaid, Secretary to V.P of student services.

Mrs. Annette Deaton spoke to the governing body about the upcoming New Student Orientation. She is needs student volunteers to help plan, present and give tours to the spring incoming students. If any one is interested, please go by the counseling office room 13. She also announced the get together for the non-traditional students set for Wednesday, Nov. 14th, 2007, at 11:00 to 1:30. Mr. Finney spoke regarding parking decal importance, smoking designation policy, and spring schedule availability.

Raina Shultz presented her proposal for dancing with the professors. She is using this as a fund raiser for meth bears. These are to be given to the children whose parents have been taken away during a house raid. This event is to take place April 12th, 2008. As of this time she is still looking for another student couple. Opportunities to practice would be once a week until the competition.

For old business: The Halloween contest was a success. The JSCC men's basketball team won their game. The Christmas float is under-way, and still needing volunteers to help. New Business: Art week started 11-12 thru 11-16. Primary registration, spirit day was discussed also.
