Veteran Affairs

Jackson State Community College is committed to serving VA students in a timely and conscientious manner. The Veterans Affairs Office is located in the Student Union Building, Financial Aid Office, Room 24-C. VA students are able to receive one-on-one service with individual counseling as needed.

The Veterans Affairs Office assists students eligible to receive VA benefits through the Selected Reserve Educational Assistance program (Chapter 1606), VEAP (Chapter 32), Non-Contributory VEAP (Section 903), and the New GI Bill-Active Duty Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 30). Assistance is also available for students who are children, spouses, widows, or widowers of veterans killed or 100% disabled while a member of the Armed Forces under Chapter 35. Students eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation through VA, Chapter 31, may have their 22-1905 processed through the Veterans Affairs Office. The enrollment process for applying for VA benefits is entirely separate from the College admission procedure and must be handled through the JSCC Veterans Affairs Office.

Students receiving VA benefits may elect to apply for a deferment of tuition and fees if they have not received their benefit check by the last day to complete payment. This deferment may be extended up to and including the end of the semester in which they made application.
