Kirkland's - Jackson Tennessee Distribution Center - Order Picker/Packer - Job ID 2017-4148



The Order Picker/Packer position is an hourly position reporting to a Supervisor. This position promotes a "team" approach by cooperating with other fulfillment staff to ensure customer orders are packed and shipped within established department timetables. Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to EHS practices, policies and procedures. Performs functions by following WMS or Supervisor directed picks in order to fill customers orders. Supports inventory accuracy by verifying transactions in WMS and performing location searches and verifying location status of product. Works diligently to correctly pack customers orders utilizing good judgment while  securing the customer's orders.


  • Evaluates orders to ensure quality on time delivery
  • Consistently maintains a very low number of incorrectly processed orders
  • Works with supervisor in order to eliminate identified opportunities
  • Reads customer orders, verifies inventory, and pulls items from shelves or bins
  • Prepares orders for packing and shipping
  • Provides feedback to leadership with regards to systematic and/or personnel opportunities generating exceptions with orders. Work to remove these opportunities
  • Works independently of others but be able and willing to work as part of a team
  • Maintain attendance according to company policy



  • Ability to use personal computers. Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem solving and time management skills
  • Good organization and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to properly read a tape measure
  • Ability to use a tape gun
  • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred; combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Performs all duties as assigned 
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to read, write, and follow directions in English
  • Ability to make decisions within a framework. Some opportunity for independent judgment 
  • Ability to comprehend and apply technical, abstract and complex information
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
  • Ability to listen and document discussions and meetings
  • Ability to operate general office equipment (computer, printer) stationed between 3 and 4 feet high
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds
  • Ability to meet the weight restrictions on all material handling equipment for safety requirements
  • Ability to obtain certification and operate material handling equipment, non motorized
  • Ability to meet department productivity and quality goals
