Duties
Overview
Responsible for performing and reporting assigned laboratory tests to provide diagnostic data for the treatment and/or diagnosis of disease. Under the direct supervision of a section supervisor responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine and special laboratory tests in designated areas of the laboratory
- Evaluates and reports test results as instructed by test procedure or section procedure
- Performs and maintains records of preventive maintenance on assigned instruments
- Contributes to the positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department
Qualifications
Education:
- Skill proficiency in the technical field of Medical Laboratory Technology as acquired through a two-year Associate of Science Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician
- Professional/Technical continuing education (independent study) not less than 12 CE hours annually (as required by State of Tennessee Licensure).
Licensure, Registration, Certification:
- Tennessee Licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technician, registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or the equivalent.
Experience:
- Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures normally required by three (3) months to one year of on-the-job training and orientation
