Duties

Overview

Responsible for performing all Diagnostic X-Ray and Cat Scan exams with minimum supervision. The technologist must maintain all aspects of the Radiology Department including clerical duties within the Radiology office as well as RIS/PACs. The Technologist reports directly to the Radiology Manager/Director. The Technologist will work the shift assigned by the Manager/Director. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for performing all high quality radiographic procedures within the department or as a portable exam using the exam protocol set forth by the Jackson Madison County Imaging Department and operating the facility's RIS/PACS systems properly
  • Provides explanations for pre and post exams for patients
  • Practices and maintains safety regulations that are established, including reporting equipment malfunctions to the manager. Completes incident reports, if necessary.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed
  • Capable of working at any of the Gibson County Imaging Departments that are owned by West Tennessee Healthcare

Qualifications

Education:

  • Skills and proficiency in the technical field of Radiology Technology. Such proficiency is acquired through completion of a 2 year accredited AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program (ARRT) and CPR certified.

Licensure, Registration, Certification:

  • Responsible for maintaining a current license with ARRT or other acceptable licensure
  • Registration as Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • The registry is eligible with ARRT for one year
  • Current CPR certification. Must be CPR certified within 90 days of employment
  • Is proactive and insures the availability of a current license, does not let license lapse at end of the birth month. Notifies any known problem with their license immediately to the director

Experience:

  • Knowledge of hospital and department polices and procedures, equipment, forms and record keeping as acquired through 3 months of orientation
