Duties
Overview:
Responsible for the safety and security of the hospital complex, its equipment, grounds, and all persons on the premises to include patients, visitors, employees, and physicians and deal will people of all ages. Ages may range from infant to geriatrics, both male and female. Under the direct supervision of the Security Coordinator, responsible for assigned shifts. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
Responsibilities:
Monitors the safety and security of the hospital by making rounds and patrols to ensure that staff, employees, patients, visitors, buildings, and grounds are safe and secure. This includes the prevention of security, safety, fire and disaster-related incidents which may result in personal harm, property loss and liability
Provides assistance to motorists and visitors, and being generally helpful to anyone needing assistance. Checks vehicles for proper parking procedures.
Identifies safety and security violations or unusual situations which may require officer assistance or response and reports all incidents to the Shift Leader. Investigates unusual incidents and responds to calls for security assistance. Documents rounds and fire extinguisher checks
Prepares legible, complete and accurate reports of activities and investigations of all unusual conditions and incidents. Corrects and/or eliminates the underlying problems which either cause or allow incidents to occur.
Initiates and maintains traffic and crowd control during disasters or emergencies
Conducts random package checks on all shifts to prevent theft of hospital property
Checks restricted access and locked areas; opens doors for authorized personnel as needed
Monitors CCTV System to prevent personal harm or property loss to employees, patients, physicians and visitors
Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort to the department.
Transports hospital employees and others from parking areas to various locations on hospital property
Conduct bank runs and money transfers as required
Monitor boiler alarm system and notifies boiler attendant of alarms or unusual events
Involving the boiler alarm system, also works with an attendant during boiler tests
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensure, Registration, Certification:
Must obtain CPR certification during orientation period
Valid Tennessee State Driver's License
Experience:
Knowledge of security procedures, hospital layout, investigative guidelines, record keeping guidelines, and job duties normally acquired through 4-6 weeks on the job training
