Duties
Overview
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Facilities Managment, responsible for overseeing the Plant Operations and Project Management functions of the hospital and system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The employee is subject to call back as required by the hospital.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for organizing, managing and monitoring daily functions of Plant Operations and Maintenance and renovations and facility growth in the Project Management and Construction departments
Assist and act as a resource for numerous hospital department planning and budgeting, equipment purchases, disaster preparedness, and code compliance
Initiates and participates in the hiring process of all department personnel; trains, assigns, and monitor work, evaluate performance, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates department coordinators, secretary, records specialist, supervisors, and managers and oversees/recommends and administers personnel actions for all department personnel
Tours and inspects equipment and engineering spaces, and supervises corrective actions necessary for the facility and/or equipment needs
Writes reviews, and corrects as necessary, logs, correspondence, work orders, and departmental policies and procedures
Initiates, screens, approve or disapprove purchase requests. Determines needs and requirements and assists with the preparation of budgets and monthly reports
Monitors and maintains preventive maintenance program for the facilities
Investigates incidents/violations and enforces safety guidelines
Performs feasibility reviews for new equipment and systems
Participates in Life Safety Facility Reviews
Assist Executive Director with Plant Operations, Project Management and Construction need as may be necessary
Responsible for EPA and TN Environmental compliance
Will coordinate campus spill program
Qualifications
Education:
B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field
Experience:
Proficiency in Plant Engineering as normally acquired through 10 years of Plant Engineering experience including 5 years of proven management experience
Hospital Facility Systems Experience
Knowledge of Life Safety Codes, TDOH, and the Joint Commission Standards-desired but not required
Experience eith agencies such as EPA, TDEC, TOSHA and OSHA and familiarity with their regulations as appropriate for hospital environments
