Duties
Overview:
Responsible for performing EKGs, hooking up and discontinuing holter monitors, maintaining equipment, transcription and disbursements of all reports, transporting of patients throughout the cardiology department as needed, preliminary interpretation/recognition of 12 lead abnormalities, relief supervisor, and assistance/collaboration with all related departments (Echocardiograph, Stress Testing, Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab, Mobile ultrasound, and other hospital departments). Supports the mission, vision, and values of the Tennessee Heart and Vascular Center and, under the direction of the Director of Cardiology, contributes to the accomplishment of the purpose of the Cardiology department. Under the general supervision of the EKG supervisor and Director of Cardiology, the EKG technician is responsible for the assigned shift as scheduled including on-call status. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
Responsibilities:
Performs EKGs according to the established departmental protocols
Maintains and completes all aspects of TracemasterVue, including but not limited to charges, assigning EKGs, transcription of dictation, correcting information on EKGs, proper download of EKGs, and any related aspects
File, fax, chart, and transcribe any related cardiology report. Proper distribution of any cardiology report
Hook up and discontinuation of holter monitors following the established protocols
Maintenance of all logs, distribution reports, or related duties
Responds to CPRs
Collaborates with any related team members, physicians, and/or departments to coordinate care and provide continuity of care
Performs related tasks and all other activities/tasks as directed by the Department Director/Supervisor
Serves as a positive role model of a heart healthy lifestyle
Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department and hospital, perform any related responsibility as required or directed and greet guest in accordance with the Guest Excellence principles

Qualifications
Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent
Licensure, Registration, Certification:
BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position
Recommend EKG Technician Certification
Experience:
Basic EKG knowledge, identification of basic abnormal rhythms usually acquired through 3 months on-the-job training
