Duties
Overview
Responsibilities include assisting Departmental Director in departmental projects and goals. Responsible for meeting with vendors for equipment and supply purchases. Responsible for the performance of Quality Assurance studies and directly responsible for the coordination and management of shift supervisors and staff. Also responsible for the ordering and maintenance of stock for the Respiratory Care Department. Responsible for organization and management of staffing in relation to workloads. Also responsible for projects and activities in the department, especially those to the critical care and therapeutic areas. Serves as the joint commission chapter lead and is lead over the organization's emergency management.
Responsibilities
Manages, directs, and coordinates the special projects within the respiratory care department which includes the patient population of pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics in the critical care and therapeutic areas
Directs the activities regarding the development of respiratory care programs and projects in conjunction with the physicians and nursing staff
Also assists nursing and other departments with the education on respiratory care topics as required
Develops and maintains marketing concepts and strategies of continued growth with special projects in respiratory care
Assists the staff development coordinator with the training of employees and respiratory care students
Assists the director in all phases of respiratory care programs, policies and procedures
Oversees the uniformity in the approach to patient care procedures and quality assurance
Assists with the development and submission of the budget plans for minor and capital equipment needs as well as appropriate staffing plans for the budget process
Manages preventive maintenance, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and keeps records of sterilization logs
Coordinate and serve as a resource to senior leadership during actual emergencies including documentation to appropriate agencies
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed
Markets respiratory care programs to physicians, affiliates, and other departments
Performs routine and special respiratory care procedures
Monitors through quality assurance, proper documentation, management report, incident reports, departmental records, and other reports as required or directed
Meets with vendors and suppliers of department equipment, products, and expendable supplies
Develop and adopt emergent management polices and procedures
Qualifications
Education
Skill and proficiency in the principles, concepts, and techniques of the respiratory care profession as acquiring an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care or Higher
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, or related field required
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Maintain current Tennessee License for respiratory care and current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent
Experience
Proficiency in all areas of respiratory care assessment and care
Must have management and supervisory skills, as well as good communication skills
Five (5) years of experience in the field of respiratory care
