Dec 13th, 2016

Jackson State Community College needs part-time instructors to teach day and evening classes at its main campus in Jackson, as well as its off-campus centers throughout West Tennessee.

Positions are available for adjunct faculty in many disciplines, including math, physical science, English, sociology and political science. A master's degree is required to teach college-level courses along with at least 18 hours in the discipline that is being taught.

Disciplines such as computer information technology, emergency medical technician, industrial technology, medical terminology and laboratory assistants for sciences require only a bachelor's degree.

"This is a great opportunity for anyone who has ever thought they might like to teach," said Dr. Richard Coppings, dean of math and natural sciences. "Part-time opportunities such as this provide working professionals an excellent way to give back by sharing their knowledge and expertise with students."

Compensation for part-time instructors of for-credit courses is $550 per credit hour. A full listing of available opportunities, along with information to apply for a position, can be found at www.jscc.edu/adjunct or by contacting the office of human resources at 731-425-2621.
