Jackson State Community College hosts Donkey Basketball to Benefit American Cancer Society

Jackson, Tenn. -- Jackson State Community College will host a night of donkey basketball on April 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the JSCC gymnasium. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Concessions, including grilled hamburgers and hotdogs will be available for sale by the Jackson State student clubs.

Each donkey basketball team will have four players on the backs of live donkeys playing basketball for a total of eight minutes per game. The pre-game events are Musical Donkeys and a Popcorn Race.

Madison County Mayor Jerry Gist will give a welcome followed by a performance by JSCC Innovation. Participants and special guests at this year's event include: JSCC President Dr. Bruce Blanding, JSCC Dean of Arts and Sciences Dr. Gary Brummer, JSCC Dean of Professional and Technical Studies Mr. Barry Jennison, State Representative Jimmy Eldridge, Senator Lowe Finney, West Tennessee Healthcare'??s Vicky Lake, Jody Parrish and Re-max Realtors, Froggy 104 FM, Freed Hardeman University'??s SGA and JSCC'??s SGA.

The event will also feature a rock climbing wall and many other games and activities for the children.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door and can be purchased at the Jackson State business services office. T-shirts are available at the business office for $10.00. A t-shirt/ticket combo can be purchased at JSCC for only $12.00.
