Jackson State Community College Hosts WNBA Star Sheryl Swoopes April 10

Jackson State Community College will bring WNBA star Sheryl Swoopes to Jackson on Thursday, April 10. She will speak at Oman Arena at 7 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Sheryl Swoopes is a three-time Olympic medalist, a four-time WNBA champion, and an inspirational figure to millions. She is an engaging speaker with a story that will inspire her audience to strive for dedication and determination toward a goal. A question and answer period will follow.

This event is sponsored by Jackson State Community College's Diversity Committee by a grant from the Tennessee Board of Regents. Swoopes is the keynote in a series of brown bag speakers including Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist, Darfur refugee Ibrahim Adam and Union University Professor Roslyn Wilson. With the Brown Bag Lecture Series, the college is reaching out to underserved populations on its campus such as first-generation college students, males, single parents and non-native English speakers.
