Jackson State Events Scheduled for 'Community Read' project

Jackson, Tenn. -- Jackson State Community College is sponsoring several events in conjunction with 'Community Read' in the city. The 'Community Read' book choice this year is Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice.' The college is partnering with the Friends of Jackson-Madison County Library, Lambuth University and Union University to offer several discussion groups related to the book and host an author who has written a companion novel.

Dr. Mechel Camp, associate professor of English at Jackson State, will discuss 'Brains, Brawn, and Beauty in Austen's Pride and Prejudice' on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in JSCC's Writing Center located in the Library building.

Dr. Mack Perry, professor and chair of English at Jackson State, will discuss 'Looking at Love: Film Adaptations of Pride and Prejudice' on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. in JSCC's Writing Center.

On Nov. 7 at Noon, Jackson State will host Laurie Viera Rigler, author of 'Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict.' She will discuss her book and be available to sign copies in the Writing Center.
