Jackson, TN - The proceeds from last year's Bagels and Bluegrass Bicycle Century Tour were dispersed recently in a check presentation ceremony at Jackson State Community College.

The college received a check for $3,000 which will be used for a full scholarship for one deserving student next year. Officials at the college say the money will definitely help.

Checks in the amount of $500 each also went to Pinson Mounds State Park and Friends of Chickasaw State Park.

Bagels and Bluegrass is a one-day cycling event with routes in varying lengths from 14 to 104 miles. Cyclists are treated to sweeping views of southwest Tennessee countryside while riding through east Jackson, Pinson Mounds State Park and Chickasaw State Park.

Last year's Bagels and Bluegrass event, held on October 7, 2008, attracted more than 100 cyclists. This year's event is tentatively scheduled for October 3, 2009 at Jackson State Community College.
