Jackson State Taps New Director of Communications

Jackson State Community College has appointed Tori Cliff as Director of Communications.

Cliff earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism from Middle Tennessee State University located in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She then went on to receive a master's degree in Journalism from The University of Memphis located in Memphis, Tenn.

Cliff's career history is comprised of a variety of positions utilizing her communication skills. She has worked in the private sector, as well as in higher education. Most recently, Cliff served as Assistant Professor at Lane College teaching Mass Communication classes. Just prior to that appointment, she held the position of Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Stillman College located in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where she also taught Journalism classes in the evening and online.

Cliff was born in Pontiac, Mich., however her parents moved to Smyrna, Tenn., when she was 5 and she grew up there. Upon graduation with her first degree, Cliff married Dr. Brad Cliff, a Jackson native, and moved to Jackson, Tenn., with him.

While in Jackson, Cliff served as Marketing Coordinator for Leaders Credit Union and then as Major & National Advertising Accounts Manager and Preprint Coordinator for The Jackson Sun. That is also when she earned her master's.

After a three-year stay in Jackson, she and her family relocated to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take advantage of a career opportunity for husband, Dr. Cliff, who had been serving as Chair of the Health & Human Performance department at Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn. While living in Tuscaloosa, Cliff and husband worked for Stillman College. 'We made a lot of great friends in Tuscaloosa, but we never stopped missing Tennessee. Jackson is an amazing place and living here has brought so many blessings to my family. We are delighted to be back home,' she said.

Her husband, Dr. Cliff, serves as faculty at Bethel University.
