Jackson State to Host Honors Program Presentation 'The Ankgorian Period of the Khmer Empire and the Khmer Rouge' October 10

Jackson State Professor of History and Political Science Dr. Lawrence Gundersen, a Fulbright Senior Specialist (2011-16), will give an Honors Program presentation on October 10 at 11 a.m. in the Science Auditorium of Jackson State Community College's Jackson campus.

The title of the lecture will be 'The Ankgorian Period of the Khmer Empire and the Khmer Rouge.' Special attention will be placed on Khmer Emperor Jayavaraman VII and the remote Banteay Chhmar and Banteay Torp Buddhist temple complexes along the Thai-Cambo border.

In addition, a review of the death and destruction committed by the Khmer Rouge on Cambodia between 1975 and 1979 will be covered.

This lecture, to be followed by a question and answer time, is open to all JSCC students, staff, and faculty, and to the public and the cost to attend is free.
