JSCC Solicits Nominations for Outstanding Alumni and Distinguished Faculty Awards

Calling all Jackson State Alumni! It is that time of year again: Jackson State Community College is looking for nominations for the Outstanding Alumnus and Distinguished Faculty awards.

Submit your candidate'??s name; address and a brief description of why you believe he or she deserves the award. Also, your name and contact information must accompany the nomination. Each alumnus is allowed only one nomination per award.

The nominee for the Outstanding Alumnus Award must have attended at least one year and taken 30 or more credit hours at Jackson State. The idea candidate will have achieved significant success and made a difference in his or her community. Demonstrated community service, professional accomplishment, and commitment to Jackson State Community College are some of the areas that should be considered in making this nomination. Past recipients are Buster Ferguson; Juanita Dunlap & Wanda Hornsby (The Jergnigan Twins); Gary Grisham; Ken Hollis; and Ron Hill.

The nominee for the Distinguished Faculty Award goes to a faulty member who has served Jackson State long and well. Your nomination might be based on support given to students, faculty leadership, and expertise/accomplishment in their academic field, length of service to the college or any combination thereof. Past recipients are Jack Hadley; Marion Smothers; Jim McCormack; Neta McKnight and Scott Cohen.

You may submit your nomination by e-mail to krobertson@jscc.edu, by mail to JSCC Foundation, 2046 North Parkway, Jackson, TN 38301, or you may drop by our office, room 22 in the Administration Building. The nominees will be forwarded to the Alumni Association Board of Directors for final selection on Wednesday, August 8, 2007.
