Madison County Crisis Intervention Team to host mental health, de-escalation tactics public forum

Nov 2nd, 2022

The Madison County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) will host a public forum panel discussion on Nov. 8 from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at the Jackson State Community College – Jackson Campus.

The purpose of the forum will be to have an open discussion surrounding the current policies and procedures in place for identifying mental illnesses and allocating the proper resources for those in crisis situations. The forum will also discuss the strides being made by law enforcement agencies in Tennessee that are equipping officers to de-escalate situations to reduce the need for the use of force.

The Madison County CIT will also discuss during the forum its purpose, current and future community involvement, members of the team, benefits of having a CIT and more.

The forum will be held in the JSCC Nursing Building conference room, Room 203. As part of the forum, a free lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for those in attendance.

This event is held in partnership with the University of Tennessee – Martin as part of the USDA Delta Health Care Services grant that was announced in November of 2021.
