State Rep. Jimmy Eldridge Set to Speak at Jackson State Graduation May 9

State Representative Jimmy Eldridge will deliver the keynote address as Jackson State Community College holds its 41st Commencement Exercises at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at Oman Arena.

The college will confer the degrees of associate of arts, associate of science, associate of science in teaching, and associate of applied science to approximately 500 students. More than one-third of those students will graduate with honors.

Eldridge was born in Madison County, the son of Air Force Colonel William W. and Ella Frances Eldridge. He is a local businessman and former owner of Allison-Eldridge Insurance Group, Inc.

Eldridge was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2003. He represents the 73rd District, which includes two-thirds of Madison County. He serves on the House Finance Ways and Means Committee, Joint Business Taxes committee, and is Chairman of the Consumer Affairs subcommittee.

He received a bachelor of science in chemistry and biology from Lambuth University. He is a member of the Jackson Rotary Club, Jackson Symphony Board, and Pinson Ruritan Club. This year, Rep. Eldridge was named the United Way Legislator of the Year.

He and his wife, Carolyn Hall Eldridge, live in north Madison County and own a farm in south Madison County. They have two children and three grandchildren.
