Summer Bridge Program kicks off at JSCC

Jun 3rd, 2019

The TN Achieves Summer Bridge Program officially kicked off this morning at Jackson State Community College. Jessica Macey, TN Achieves Completion Director, and Dr. Allana Hamilton, JSCC President, met with 28 students who are beginning a three-week process to orient them for academic success as they begin their college careers this fall.

The Summer Bridge Program is a free three-week program designed to help incoming students start on a more college-ready level, both academically and socially. Each day, students receive reading, English and math instruction and attend a college success Lunch & Learn, where lunch will be provided. On the last day of the program, students have a chance to test out of learning support courses at the college they plan to attend.
