Veterans' Roll Call to Be Read Nov. 11

Nov 1st, 2011

Jackson State Community College has joined a nationwide effort to honor American service men and women who paid the ultimate price in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past decade. On Veterans Day, Fri., Nov. 11, college faculty, staff, students, and community members will take turns in a day-long continuous reading of the names of the more than 6,200 casualties.
The event begins with an opening program at 7:45 a.m. at the gazebo in the Jackson campus' quadrangle featuring a color guard, a song by Innovation, and JSCC President Bruce Blanding sharing some comments. It also will involve a nationwide 'moment of silence' at 1 p.m. to recognize the signing of the armistice ending World War I.
