Military & Veteran Benefits
Getting Started with Benefits
First:
-
-
- Apply for Admission to Jackson State
- Apply to receive your VA benefits
- If you’ve used benefits at another school before coming to JSCC, go to the VA's Change your school or program web page to do a Form 22-1995 Change of Program or Place of Training.
- If you are using Federal Tuition Assistance (TA), first talk to your Educational Service Officer and apply at ArmyIgnitED; for National Guard service members using TN STRONG, go to the Tennessee Department of Military Education & Incentives web page.
- Apply for Financial Aid using the FAFSA
-
Next:
-
-
- Submit all documents requested by Admissions and by Financial Aid
- About 30 days after applying for VA benefits, you should receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) by email or mail. Complete an information sheet. Bring your COE, info sheet, and if applicable, your DD214 to JSCC’s VA office. You may also contact them to obtain a link for secure upload.
- If you are USAF/USSF, request that your official CCAF transcripts be sent to JSCC. If you are another branch of service, we’ll order a copy of your military transcript (JST) to review and award appropriate Prior Learning Credit.
- For TA, go on ArmyIgnitED, find your course enrollments, and request TA for each class.
-
Then:
-
-
- Once accepted to JSCC, meet with an advisor and register for classes.
- The college’s VA rep then will certify your JSCC classes for VA benefits. For TA, go on ArmyIgnitED, find your course enrollments, and request TA for each class.
- Pay any remaining money owed the school in the Business Office or on jWeb by the published last day to pay.
-
That’s it! Let us know if you need anything!
