Head Coach Steve CornelisonSteve Cornelison , Head Coach

Steve Cornelison enters his tenth season as Jackson State's baseball coach. Cornelison is continuing a tradition of excellence that has become "Generals Baseball". No stranger to Jackson State, Cornelison played from 1992-93 for the Generals under former coach, Bubba Cates (Tennessee-Martin). During his career at Jackson State, the Generals enjoyed a combined record of 59-36, and were the TJCCAA Region VII Tournament Runner-Up in 1993. As a sophomore, Cornelison was honored as All Western Division, All TJCCAA, and Honorable Mention All American.

Before returning to Jackson, Cornelison spent five seasons at Austin Peay State University, as a player from 1993-95 and as a member of the APSU coaching staff from 1995-98. During his stay at APSU the Governors won two Ohio Valley Conference titles and participated in the 1996 NCAA South II Regional Championship in Baton Rouge, La.

In nine seasons Cornelison has seen over 60 former players sign scholarships to continue their college careers at four year colleges and universities and had numerous players receive all conference, state, region, and national awards.

Cornelison earned a Associate of Science Degree from Jackson State in 1993, a Bachelor of Science in 1995 and a Master of Science in 1998 from Austin Peay. He and his wife, Hope, have two children. Abby is nine years old and Trae is seven.

Cornelison also serves as the Director of Athletics and Student Activities for Jackson State Community College.

 

Coach Deron HinesDeron Hines, Coach

Coach Deron Hines enters his ninth year as Jackson State Community College's basketball coach. During his tenure at Jackson State Community college, the Generals have compiled a 144-70 record, have won 2 TJCCAA Western Division championships and have spent several seasons ranked in the NJCAA top 20. The Generals have become perennial contenders in the TJCCAA and NJCAA Region 7 under Hines’ watch.
In the 2001-2002 Season, Hines guided the Generals to their first ever TJCCAA Western Division Championship. During that championship season the Generals also finished as TJCCAA Runners-up, NJCAA Region VII Runners-up, and a final ranking of twelfth in the NJCAA Division I Poll. Coach Hines was also honored as the Western Division Coach of the year and NJCAA Region VII Co-Coach of the year.
Before his stint at Jackson State, Hines was an Assistant Coach at Union College in Barbourville, KY from 1994-1999. The Bulldogs went 88-71 in those five seasons, highlighted by a 20-12 record and a top 20 ranking in the NAIA Division I Poll during the 1996-97 campaign.
Hines also spent one year as a graduate assistant coach at the University of North Alabama during the 1993-94 season. The Lions were 24-6 that year, won the Gulf South Conference, advanced to the NCAA Division II "Sweet Sixteen", and achieved a top 20 NCAA Division II ranking.

As an undergraduate, Hines played for his father Dr. Douglas Hines (a former Adolf Ruff assistant) at Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at MC in 1989. Hines received his Master's Degree in Education from the University of North Alabama in 1994.

Coach Paula Fuller Paula Fuller, Coach

Paula Fuller enters her third year as head coach of the Lady Generals. Coach Fuller is a native of Madison County, attending West High School in Denmark, TN graduating with honors. Fuller earned an Associate of Science Degree from Jackson State in 1981, and her Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1984 from Memphis State University.

She worked fifteen years as marketing research analysts for A.C. Nielsen Marketing Research Corp. Currently Paula is the Assistant Director of Admissions and The Admissions Recruitment Manager for Jackson State Community College. She is a very active member of Bethlehem #1 Missionary Baptist Church in Mercer, TN.

Paula is a former collegiate basketball player starting her career at JSCC `79-81’ which was state and western regional champions and third in the nation. In 1981-84 she attended Memphis State University helping the Lady Tigers to win the Metro Conference and an appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16 Tournament. Paula has many awards and accolades during her years of academics and basketball play.
